Blog writing techniques
The steps to writing a great nutrition article or fitness blog post begin with knowing the questions your audience is asking. You may think that is an easy way to start, yet often coaches forget that the blog is not about the coach and the questions the coach feels are important, it is about your audience and how they are asking the question, in their own words.
As coaches, we know “coaching talk”, which means we forget to speak the language our audience is using. It’s why working with Balanced Healthstyles is so convenient. We provide you lists of seasonal topics, long-standing trends, and traditional questions that audiences like yours are asking.
Next, you pique the interest of your audience with the answer by using a variety of proven blog writing techniques such as:
- Lists
- Resources
- How to’s
- Case Studies
- What & Why
- Infographic
Lastly, when writing your first blog post, tell your audience why they should trust you. Let them know how you know the answer - - show them you are the expert.
How to overcome writer's block and write your first article
What can you do when you freeze and don’t know where to start?
Have a question in mind that you can answer. You might refer back to social media status updates that you have already written, or actual questions clients have asked you, to give you a starting point.
Tips on how to write a great headline
The headline may be the very most important part of your article. It should either directly ask or hint at the answer to a question they have been searching for.
You can use the Google search bar for ideas or query Ask The Public, but if you would love to have an in-depth guide to writing great headlines, be sure to request your “Get Visible Now Kit” to access the Balanced Healthstyles exclusive library of resources!
How to write blog posts effectively
You want to write an engaging article that people will actually read.
Start by creating an outline of the points you want to address. One easy way to get great subheadings for your outline is to use the Google “People Also Ask” feature.
Once you’ve decided on the one best keyword for your headline, take a look at what Google is suggesting in the section “People Also Ask” These related questions can guide you in creating a well-rounded article that captures the interest of your audience by including what they care about.
Then you can begin writing... or even easier, record yourself simply answering the question or talking about the topic in your natural way, and use that as your guide.
When you know what your audience is asking, it becomes easy to write engaging articles. Here are a few topics that you could write about easily.
To be relatable when you write, you can also look at what your audience is sharing. If they are sharing, it means they are interested in the topic. At Balanced Healthstyles we use software to aid us in knowing what people are sharing as it relates to your audience. It will help ease your burden when wondering what to write about.
The biggest mistake you can make is to believe other coaches are your competition, rather than your allies.
When you contribute to Balanced Healthstyles, you don’t have to spend all your time thinking of new things to write about, and you don’t have to generate your audience from scratch.
We are better together. Through a B2B ecosystem of collaborating industry pros, we become more than the sum of the parts.
Suddenly, you don’t have to do it all yourself, and all by yourself.
How would you like to have trending topics on google and social media and hot keywords handed to you on a silver platter, and the website layout managed by someone else? What if you could focus on your area of interest and expertise, and speak directly to your ideal clients?
With Balanced Healthstyles, the endless cycle of creating social media posts and other technical chores is practically done for you, all you have to do is share your blog post from Balanced Healthstyles to your social media channels.
